Advice

If I were to be hired by Baruch College to use new media to improve the college, these are some of my suggestions:

- One suggestion would be to implement more online courses. There are only a select number of online courses for each subject and some subjects don’t even have online classes available at all. Online courses are helpful for students who aren’t able to dedicate as much time to in-person classes. Because it is online, scheduling in time for the classes is flexible. Furthermore, it teaches students responsibility and time management, as they are responsible for reminding themselves of deadlines. For example, me personally, I missed a lot of deadlines or ended up leaving the work till the last minute because I forgot about deadlines and it was my responsibility to do so.

- Another suggestion, would be to implement twitter discussion. It teaches students to be concise and requires students to interact with one another. It also allows for the students to take the discussion out of the classroom and allows for more interaction amongst students. It also allows for students who are shy to participate. In addition, twitter discussions when using a hashtag has live updates and students can get notified when someone else in the class tweets.

New media would really aid classrooms and professors. New media allows for a new way of learning and discussion and these two suggests are just two examples of implementing new media in the classroom.
